giants pennant bento

3 10 2010

WOO HOO!  in their last regular-season game, against their division rivals, the padres, my boys clinched the pennant.  we’re headed to our first post-season since 2003!

in the bottom half of my new iro-iro argyle bento box, i packed two panda-shaped onigiri, waving orange flags (black and orange are giants colors).  the pandas have nori stripes and facial features, cheese arms, and black bean ears.  this box also contains two vegetarian chicken nuggets, two pieces of carrot tamagoyaki, a lotus-cut baby carrot, a zebra tomato and a baby pear tomato, some steamed broccoli florets, and a slice of star fruit.

the tightly-sealing top half of this handy new box (not pictured) contains a little bit of pad ka prow with mock duck, leftovers from thai food we ordered this weekend.

everyone getting ready for the work week ahead?  hope you all had a fabulous fall weekend!

Waaaaaait a second! They just clinched 8 minutes ago. You’re omniscient! But I’m guessing you’d have celebrated with your cute pandas either way!! Yippee!! Smile, panda!! Go Giants!!

tee hee, i started making the bento at the beginning of the game, hoping i would get to write the post text in a celebratory fashion, but yes, i would have used the pandas either way🙂

A-dorable!! Here with a big smile looking at these plump pandas, looking so cute and well surrounded with great fruit and veggie accents–starfruit ftw! Love how one of the pandas is holding a pennant and also the bright orange fork and barran accents–so festively fall!

I really love that box! The bento is colorful and the pandas are cute. But, it seems that the pandas are lil’ bit disappointed – what’s wrong? Is it because Dani couldn’t join the previous race? Heeheehee ^^v

thanks ta! yes, my pandas are fans of the same sports as me, and were sad to hear about dani’s collarbone😦 haha, no, the real reason is because the giants player who the panda is a symbol of – pablo sandoval – hasn’t been playing too hot lately!

The black bean ears are perfect and the carrot tamagoyaki sounds wonderful🙂 Yay Giants!! Woot!

thanks heather! the black beans were leftover from a big batch of chili, which i’m sure will show up in bento later this week😉

I love your bentos, they are so creative and detailed, and I especially love this one – go Giants!! I’m always in awe when I stop by your blog, I don’t know how you have time to make these with your busy job, but keep it up!
