sandwich bow bento

5 10 2010

last night i attended a lecture and then caught up over a bottle of red wine with a good friend, so i got home too late to bento; i threw some leftover chili in a tupperware on my way out the door this morning and that was that.

tonight also feels rushed, so another quick one:  just a few mini egg salad sandwiches with a salami “bow,” a lotus-cut baby carrot, a steamed broccoli floret, yellow and orange tomatoes, a strawberry and a fig.

what have you got for lunch this wednesday?  find out what everyone else is eating, at shannon’s blog.

Is that a metal box? I love it! Where can I get one?
What a sweet little present you’ll have waiting for you tomorrow! Darling bow🙂

hi sheri! the metal box is from rakuten, it’s by aizawa utile (i think that’s the right spelling), maki did a write-up on metal boxes (including this company) on just bento once and i’ve coveted one ever since; finally made the splurge!

Looks yummy! Is the paper which looks like a newspaper something special for bento?

thanks charsiubau! the paper is a designed wax paper, it’s food-safe but not bento-specific (i’ve seen it used to wrap candies and other stuff too). it’s from the online merchant rakuten, and comes in strawberry and heart designs, too!

Cute and stylish as always! (I love your collection of happy-bright forks!) The bow is perfect as is the cool baran styling! Even your “quick” bentos show such care and wit, megan🙂 Coveting that plump little fig!

thanks jenn! this random pack of rainbow plastic forks was one of my best etsy finds ever.

Oh my goodness, this is amazing. These types of meals are perfect for me: allowing the fruits/veggies to shine on their own and the simple yet complex sandwich, yum!.

thanks for stopping by daniel! i don’t have it in me most nights to cook the fabulous dinners you come up with, so sometimes you have to just throw a sandwich in a box and, exactly like you said, let the raw produce do the talking!

Even though you are rushing, you still made a perfect little ‘gift’ for yourself!😀

tee hee, it’s important to treat ourselves, right?😉

thanks ta! this is my philosophy with getting dressed, too — if i don’t have time, just slap on a bow (or belt or headband) and call it “cute”!
